Last week, Balón USA concluded six weeks of fall programming. We were happy to serve 38 students at Walker Branch Park in Lakewood by creating 4 teams which practiced twice a week for an hour and a half. The families were thrilled to have their children outside getting exercise, and socializing. Families also accessed the resources provided by Edgewater Collective during practices, including: gift cards, STEM activities, free internet through a high-speed hotspot. Additionally, tutoring was provided by two teachers and 7 students from Jefferson Junior/Senior High School.
In collaboration with the Jefferson Center for Mental Health two social emotional workshops were offered via Zoom to parents. The Spanish workshop was held October 14 and the English workshop was on October 27. The topic was “Supporting you and your families in the new normal of Covid-19”.
We were proud to be an important part of these efforts to bring resources and activities to our Jefferson County students and their families.
